NANOART Solarplate and Monotype Printmaking - A Microscopic Perspective

NANOART Solarplate and Monotype Printmaking - A Microscopic Perspective

Description - Science has rapidly progressed into sub-atomic space.  It is now possible for magnifying tools to discover images made of sub-atomic particles.  NANOART is microscopic imagery.  Nano-Solarplate Etchingsand/or Nano-Monoprints are works of art depicting natural structures of matter discovered at molecular and atomic scales. These structures are visualized through digital photography and computers, with magnifying tools, telescopes,      scanning electron microscopes, and atomic scales.  The microscopic images are captured, analyzed, creatively       refined, and further processed, utilizing different artistic media and printmaking techniques to convert mic images into original works of art.  The format of this creative course will have high appeal for artists,  craftsmen, educators, humanities, scientists, and technology fields.

Intaglio Printmaking Workshop

Explore the heritage of the intaglio printmaker, utilizing historic concepts and techniques to influence your approach to contemporary printmaking.  Solar printmaking (intaglio) is a highly versatile and expressive medium, transforming original drawings, paintings, collage, vintage and/or contemporary photographs, JPEG'S, and copier art into high quality etchings. Create a plate using UV light (the sun) without losing your image.  Make a small edition, and clean up without the use of turps.  You will not use any acids.  Enjoy making plates in the sun, developing them with ordinary tap water, and printing the images with an intaglio press.

The focus will be upon utilizing the tools of the printmaker, your potential and creativity as an artist, the simplicity of plate processing, and the production of professional artwork. You will be introduced to a variety of techniques; printmaking practices, and participate in critiques.

Explore the unique sensitivity of Solar printmaking, using an Intaglio Press to create limited edition etchings. Solar printmaking will appeal to artists of all levels, from students and beginners to experienced printmakers, photographers, painters, and artists of all media. The Workshop will conclude with a class exhibit, critique, and celebration.
